Hosed by Ohio Life Sciences, this one-day one-day workshop & behind-the-scenes industry tour for teachers preparing Ohio 6th–12th grade students for careers in life science & biotech.

WHY ATTEND
As a result of taking part in this learning experience, participants will:

• Know… protein synthesis, engineering design, protein folding principles, amino acid properties and how their properties determine protein final structure
• Understand… how to implement engineering design challenges, apply these understandings to gene therapy, vaccines, and drug development
• Be able to… pipette accurately, fold proteins according to chemical structure and amino acid properties, relate activities to current industry career needs

Start in the workshop and:

• do hands-on science
• collaborate with fellow life sciences educators
• use career-focused lessons informed by Ohio industry

Then, during the industry visit, you’ll:

• tour a working life sciences facility
• connect with experts at an industry reception
• see firsthand what students can expect from life sciences careers

Please note that the event begins with registration at 8:00 am and ends at 6:00 pm – participants are expected to attend the full day including the tour and reception.
